Staff are the key to quality childcare. Our staff is qualified by the MA Dept. of Early Care and Education for each of their positions. All the staff at Small Wonders have a Background check through the state of MA (CORI & DCF) before working at the center. Teachers also complete 20 hours of training per year outside the center to keep up on the latest information in Early Childhood Education.
Miss September is the Center Director and owner. She has over 36 years experience in childcare and has an Assoc. degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelors degree in Psychology. September is currently working toward her Masters degree.
The staff in our Infant/Toddler room, Miss Shannon and Miss Emily almost 10 years combined experience working with infants and toddlers. They are kind, nurturing, soft spoken and VERY loving. Parents feel comfortable and confident leaving their little ones in the care of these teachers. Together they provide gross motor activities, learning and listening games while teaching language development and socially acceptable behavior.
The Junior Preschool staff at Small Wonders consists of Miss Jen, and Miss Liz. Miss Jen has a BS in ECE and over 12years experience. She was an owner/operator of a home daycare for many years, and has been with us since 2008. Miss Liz has been at Small Wonders for almost 4 years and is currently working on her BA in Social Work at Ana Maria College. The focus in this group is to learn pottying, verbal and self help skills, as well as begin with a preschool curriculum.
Our Preschool teachers are Miss Emily, Miss Kristine and Miss Joni. With a combined total of over 18 years working in Early Childhood Education and truly enjoy working with children 3-5 years old and their families. The preschool day is filled with fun, educational activities that range from gross and fine motor to social and self-help skills, art and outdoor play. Activities will challenge the children, but teachers are there to assist or lead as needed.
Our Pre-Kindergarten classroom teacher is Miss Laura. She has over 25 years experience in ECE and has been at Small Wonders since 2003. She leads lessons that prepare children for kindergarten, both academically, socially and behaviorally.
